Materials and design

This internet-controlled butt plug is made from medical-grade silicone, so it’s both robust and fairly flexible, which is essential if you plan on having something inside you for several hours. It’s designed for prolonged use (i.e. being inside you for several hours), so they’ve chosen a very ergonomic design which minimizes discomfort when you’re sitting or standing in an awkward position with the toy inside you.Part of this ergonomic design is the spiral near the base of the toy. The Hush vibe comes in 2 different sizes, but most people (including me) have the standard version. There is an insertable length of 3.8 inches, which is fairly large for a butt plug, but it shouldn’t be a problem if you’re experienced in anal play. The neck width is 0.75 inches, which is small enough to keep your sphincter closed around it tightly. There is a flared base which is 3.15 inches long and it has two ends – one end points up towards the perineum or vagina, while the other point down slightly toward the tailbone. The total length of the toy from tip to tip is 4.75 inches, so it’s a fairly discreet sex toy in terms of overall size.

Additional features

In case you were wondering, the Lovense Hush toy is 100% waterproof, so it can be used in the bath or shower, though I wouldn’t recommend submerging it for long periods of time – it still has an electronic motor inside after all. Lovense toys, including the Hush, are controlled via the Lovense Remote app which you can get on the Google Playstore and also on the Apple App Store. The Lovense app has some fairly mixed reviews on those platforms, but I’ve personally found it to be really excellent. If you’re playing alone or giving your partner control in the same room as you, you can control the Hush butt plug by pairing with it via Bluetooth.

I expected the Bluetooth pairing process to be a faff, but it was actually really easy and simple. It took like 2-3 seconds for my cell phone to pair with the buttplug!

Long-distance

If you’re looking to also pair your Lovense long distance sex toy with another device which is controlled by your partner, then you “add them” via their Lovense user profile. Once they’ve accepted your request, you are now able to control one another’s devices whenever a Wi-Fi connection is reaching your phones.

​Real-time vibration controls

Once everything is connected, now you can start playing with the vibrations. It’s tempting to jump straight to the strongest vibrations, but I find that a mixture of strong and soft vibrations is the best way to awaken your libido without becoming desensitized. I personally like a slow, long wave which climbs from low to high and then gradually drops back down.

Vibe patterns made by Lovense users

If you don’t want to create your own vibration patterns, you don’t have to – there are thousands of vibration patterns available which have been created by Lovense users. These patterns can be previewed and downloaded for free, granting you access to a cornucopia of buttplug vibration patterns which have been programmed by people just like you. Some of them can last for 30+ minutes, ebbing and flowing constantly throughout!

Some of the custom vibe patterns created by Lovense users can have really amusing names. My favorites include: “Drain the battery”, “Omg yes please”, “Toe curling ecstasy” and “Torture”. I like the simplicity of “Torture”.

Vibe patterns controlled by music/sound

As noted in other Lovense Hush reviews, you can also cause this app-controlled buttplug to vibrate along to the beat of your favorite songs or audio that is playing in the room. I spent a few fun minutes shouting “OOH!” every few seconds to feel the Hush vibrate inside me along with every “OOH!”. The louder I shouted, the more intense it became. It was a very cool feature, though I’m not sure when you’d use it.You’re even able to connect the Lovense Hush to your Spotify account. Yes, you read that correctly – streaming services and Wifi sex toys are now interlinked. Personally, I was too scared to link my Spotify in case my followers got a notification saying “Your friend just connected their butt plug to Spotify”. I’m 99% sure that wouldn’t happen, but I ain’t taking no chances.

Pros and Cons of the Lovense Hush Vibrating Butt Plug

I won’t lie – it’s mostly pros with this Lovense long distance toy. However, there are a couple of negatives to mention, so allow me to give you an overview.

How to Clean and Charge the Hush Vibrator

This toy is really easy to maintain, just like most other Lovense toys. Lovense know that couples spicing up their relationship don’t have time for complicated sex toy maintenance.

Simple Cleaning

The Hush vibe is 100% waterproof, so it’s totally safe to just wash it in the sink with warm soapy water. This is great for getting rid of stubborn stains, but I’d recommend using a purpose-built sex toy cleaner if you’re worried about bacteria or lingering odors. After washing, allow the toy to air-dry for 24 hours and voila!

USB Charging

The Lovense Hush charges via a USB cable, so it’s really easy to plug into your laptop when you’re on the go, assuming you’re not in the middle of a Starbucks. A single 90-minute charge gives you 1.5 hours of continuous vibrations and 120 hours of standby time, so you’re getting a lot of juice out of each charge.

The connector that plugs into the toy looks quite a bit like a 3.5mm audio jack for your headphones. Bear in mind that you have to push it quite firmly into the hole when you’re looking to charge the toy. It can feel like you’re about to damage it, but you aren’t.

I think that the magnetic-style USB charging on the Lovense Max 2 is much better than the Hush’s, but it’s not exactly a deal-breaker.

Cum-clusion

Overall this is an excellent remote sex toy which feels comfortable, stays in place, and delivers pleasurable anal vibrations to the wearer. I personally felt some light prostate stimulation when this toy was shaking inside me, almost like I was wearing the Aneros Vice 2 or something!The thing that really sets this toy apart is the custom patterns created by Lovense users or yourself.
